The Toughest Time of Year for Outdoor Training

Here is an amazing insight from one of our long term clients at Bronte. He was saying that having trained all year round for the last 10 years, his hardest time of year wasn't winter, it was NOW. That was a surprise, because we are in summer still. Brian explained that it is that exact shock that makes it hard. Mentally we are in summer, it should be light when we wake up, it should be sunny and dry and warm at sessions. The reality is that it is dark still at 5:30am when the alarm goes off and we are getting a real mixed bag of wet, windy weather. So we can feel somewhat cheated.

It is at times like this that you have to check in with your commitment to your training. I am committed to living a active, healthy, sustainable lifestyle through out the whole year. There is no such thing as getting a beach body for summer or hibernating as a couch potato in winter. Neither of these objectives are sustainable long term.

So take 5 minutes out today, and run through these questions to get clear about your commitment to your health and fitness..

Q1: What are your main aims with respect to health and fitness?

Q2: How often do you want to train to achieve your aims?

Q3: What support do you need to stay true to your commitment?

Q4: If you get unmotivated or off track what is the general pattern / way it manifests. What support do you need in that context?

Paragraph to write out and put somewhere easily visible:
