Why do we have to ‘sacrifice’ something to ‘get healthy’?

When speaking with clients about detoxing/ losing weight/ getting back into the swing of things there seems to always be a discussion centered around ‘giving up’ their old ways or ‘sacrificing’ the ‘fun stuff.’

I almost inevitably turn the discussion around to what and why they want to make some changes in their health and lifestyle.

What are the positives that you gain from eating well, training consistently, sleeping soundly and thinking positively? Often, once you change your thought patterns to see all of the amazing wins that you gain from these changes it is easy to see past what you have to ‘give up’ to get there.

So rather than making (and inevitably breaking) your New Years Resolutions to stop eating junk, exercise more, go out less, watching less TV, banning Facebook, try to put a spin on what you’re adding into your life to make it more satisfying, happier and healthier.
