Never fear our health loving (part time party goers) Evo’s have compiled a list of their favourite magical hangover cures to help you beat the post-boozy blues…
1. Eat- before you start drinking- foods high in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. Protein also slows the absorbtion of sugars so that your body has more time to break down the alcohol sugars. If your drinking session spans several hours perhaps pre-plan a scheduled second meal time
2. Make some important plans for the next day that you know you can’t cancel on, then keep them front of mind as the day/night progresses. You’re far more likely to execute a little self discipline (perhaps?)
3. B’s- Alcohol burns up B vitamins! So take a GOOD quality B before and after your drinking session
4. Drink plenty of water between drinks. Purchase a large bottle of sparkling water and have it nearby so that every time your glass is empty you have something else to reach for.
5. Fluid replacement- post session such as Hydralyte/Gastrolyte or Coconut water (fresh is best). Try and avoid sugary drinks such as Powerade etc as the sugar can dehydrate you more. Iced lemon or ginger infused water with a pinch of sea salt also works
6. Exercise- It may be the last thing you feel like doing and we by all means discourage high intensity exercise but if you can peel yourself off the couch, exercise will help release endorphins, get the oxygen pumping and the blood flowing to kick start the waste elimination process a lot quicker than lazing the day away
7. Eat recovery foods high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to help your body eliminate the waste products and rehydrate you- one of our trainers SWEARS by fresh raspberries! You might feel like a greasy fry up or pastries but toxins on top of toxins don’t help the body out at all
